You Tube Really Has It All

I used to think You Tube was strictly there so I could watch old music videos. That’s all I ever used it for. I would think of a song like “Girl’s Just Want to Have Fun” and I would go look it up and relive those MTV days when they actually played music videos all day. I had no idea all the cool stuff that was happening on this platform. As much as I hate being late…I was totally late to this party.

If you want to know how to fix something, go to You Tube. If you want to find an exercise program, go to You Tube. Wanna watch a movie, but can’t find it streaming anywhere, go to You Tube, you may just find it there. There really is something for everybody.

I don’t know when I actually realized how much stuff was there, but I am hooked. It is like my new Pinterest (without actually giving up Pinterest), which means I can get caught up in scrolling all day if I am not careful. Thank God I don’t have Tik Tok, I don’t think you would ever get me off my phone!

I was looking to see if I could find any old Jimmy Cagney movies on there the other day. What I found was the ceremony for when he received the AFI Life Achievement Award with Frank Sinatra hosting. It was hilarious. After that video ended, You Tube took me on a fabulous ride of other Cagney clips and interviews. It pulls you in and won’t let you out.

I was looking for a good exercise program I can do at home a couple of times a week. Nothing extreme, but something that will get me going without a lot of equipment. I suddenly thought of Tae Bo. Remember that? Billy Blanks made this whole program using a cross of kickboxing and aerobics. I used to have the old VHS tapes a million years ago and for a moment I was sad I no longer have them or a VHS player, but then…light bulb over the head moment. I went right to You Tube and there are tons of full workouts to follow along with.

A friend of mine is currently doing the 75 Hard Challenge and he is doing yoga as his second workout of the day. I asked what studio he was going to. He laughed and said the studio of You Tube. Of course, perfect choice. Something else I will have to look into.

You can find just about anything on You Tube. Videos of cats doing crazy things, guys cooking food right on the boat after they catch it, how to apply makeup…you get the point. I was even able to watch Green Day’s full set for the Hella Mega Tour. Hawaii doesn’t get a lot of big concerts like this, so I was happy to see so many people post it. I had to look at a few before I found a good quality video, but when I did, it was headphones on high volume and a good show.

Why am I singing the praises of You Tube today? Because as a squiggle line, I like so many different things and my mind can shift gears in a second, so it is the perfect place to spend some time and let my mind go crazy. If you were to look at my feed, you would see sermons, punk rock videos, exercise videos, network marketing things, Friends bloopers and so many other things. You Tube is the one stop shopping place for all my eclectic needs.

***Question for the comments…Do you watch You Tube? What is your favorite thing to watch?

Hi, I'm Tracie. I am a writer, reader, life coach, lover of the city and the beach. I am a big fan of all things caffeinated. I dig things from many different decades, but am a definite child of the 80's. My blog is about everything and anything my mind conjures up. Enjoy the ride.

  1. Look up tiny food. I love YouTube, especially for the food and painting videos. And audiobooks! But only if the reader can actually read. Nothing like an illiterate attempting to read Moby Dick. Good to fall asleep to.

  2. Oh dear, where to begin. There is so very much out there on YT. But as a cam op volunteer for explore.org, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention their live streams. They have everything from cats & dogs, to the pipeline cam in Hawaii! Yup, go look it up. I can give the link but it might be more fun to search for it. I love the live streaming cams all over the world. Not so much the ones with people, but rather the nature ones.

    1. I’ll have to check it out. I have seen live streams of Pipe…totally cool. There is also one right down by the beach at Dukes statue where to can see all the people go by. Nature for me is cool for awhile, but I like to see the people πŸ™‚
