8 Weeks? I Can Do This, My Body Will Comply

I don’t know which one of us began this conversation a few weeks ago, but Neil and I started talking about eating in the new year. This fall and holiday season has been an absolute horrendous example of how to feed your body while doing no exercise whatsoever. I mean, if we are really being honest here, I have never really had a good track record in this area. I have stopped and restarted so many times it’s like a seesaw with all the up and down. And no results to show for it, of course.

We came up with an 8-week challenge of healthy eating and exercise. Our goals are completely different. He wants to gain back some weight and muscle, while I want to lose weight and be more flexible. You could probably snap me in two right now…I am about as flexible as a #2 pencil. My body sounds like a bowl of Rice Krispies–snap, crackle, pop!

So, for the next 8 weeks I will be sharing with you how it’s going. Not every post, but here and there to keep you updated. My plan is to follow the 30 Days to Healthy Living program from Arbonne, which is a reset to the body, not an actual diet. Anyway, I will be trying some new things and cooking…I see some good laughs in this area. I rarely cook. Before, it was because I couldn’t even think about cooking after working in the restaurant all day…no longer an excuse…so time to get to it. I’ll let you know how I’m doing.

Another thing is after 33 years of being an on and off (mostly on) smoker, I have decided to say goodby to my little nicotine friend. It’s just time, I know it. It’s like that bad friend you know you shouldn’t hang out with, but you keep coming back. I like to smoke, yes, I said it, but I don’t like how it makes me feel anymore. So, goodbye Camel Joe, it was fun while it lasted.

Here’s the thing…I am going to be 52 in April. I don’t look it, but my body feels twice as old. There are still active things I have on my bucket list, and I want to do them soon. I have lived in Hawaii for almost 10 years, and I have never been on a surfboard. That was like, one of the first things I wanted to do when I moved here. My inner Gidget is dying to come out and my goal is to release her this year…so time to get rolling.

Alright 8 weeks…I am ready for you. And when it’s over, I am hoping to make this the lifestyle I have always wanted to live. Why haven’t I lived it before? I like to take the easy route most of the time. And know this, for me, the easy route is hardly ever the best choice.

***Question for the comments…are you starting any healthy regiments this year? Is yes, whatcha doing? I’m curious to see how other people handle health.

Hi, I'm Tracie. I am a writer, reader, life coach, lover of the city and the beach. I am a big fan of all things caffeinated. I dig things from many different decades, but am a definite child of the 80's. My blog is about everything and anything my mind conjures up. Enjoy the ride.

  1. 🀣🀣🀣🀣 to the cooking. I’m sure you CAN, I’ve just never seen it. But know this, baby sister, I was the one in my 20’s who always cooked from a box or take out menu. I never REALLY started cooking until I met Bill 25 years ago. I would do special things for parties and such, but never really at home.
Ok. My “resolutions”. None. Workout when I want, get more produce in and a little less junk. No weighing or measuring, even myself. I’ll know I’m improving when my pants fall off (or at least get looser)

  4. That is a terrific plan and goal Tracie. I love it! And cooking really can be fun once you have bought all the ingredients – that seems to be the toughest part for me! Making the list and checking it twice at the store! πŸ˜‚
You ask about healthy goals for me… it’s keep eating the same but increase my exercise back to before Oct-Dec. level. My work and foodie/dessert holidays interfered a bit. Especially the dessert 🍰πŸͺ
